How to Dress Happy: The Power of Color

Hello Stylistas!

There have been many days that I’ve awaken to a mood that is less than desirable. After my daily prayer, meditation, exercise and gospel music ritual, I look to lift my mood even further by making sure my outfit is colorful and makes me happy. If you’ve never tried it, I suggest you do! It really works!

Did you know that it has been proven scientifically that color can lift your mood and productivity? More of a reason to give it a try!

My colors of choice:

Purple is known as being a regal and sophisticated hue and is associated with creativity and luxury. Purple is a very stimulating color and can boost your energy level when you see it. It’s also associated with spirituality and intuition.

Green shades are calm and soothing, and are associated with nature and the outdoors. The color is refreshing and can reduce stress in those who look at it.

Yellow is ideal to cheer you up on a bad day and give you that extra needed perk. It is associated with intelligence and inspiration.

Red, which I have already identified as my fave, is a fiery color that is linked to energy, passion, love, strength, desire, and intensity.

Orange is a beautiful mix of red and yellow, and is known to spark emotions that are associated with both red and yellow! Orange represents happiness, creativity, warmth, encouragement, attraction and exuberance! When orange is in view, our brains receive more oxygen, stimulating mental activity and the feeling of confidence!

Pink represents health, femininity, compassion, playfulness, romance, and friendship. It sparks feelings of sensitivity and love. The color pink has been placed in hospitals, prisons, and health care facilities to help dissolve anger and encourage the feelings of calmness and love. How cool is that?

If you are someone who is afraid of color, when you’re feeling like you need a little mood boost, take a chance and add some color to your outfit. You will be very happy with the results!
