Hello Stylistas!
It’s been a minute since I’ve made a blog post, but I’m back! With so much going on in my life, I decided to take a small break.
When I began this blogging journey, I promised to share not only my sense of style, but my love of God and family.
Anyone who really knows me, is aware of the love I have for my children and how during their formative years my focus remained on their spiritual, educational, physical, and mental needs. For the most part, it wasn’t about me, it was all about them, and it should have been.
Next week will mark the end of a journey for me as a mother. My youngest daughter, Ashleigh will be graduating from Southern University at Baton Rouge in Louisiana and will reside in New Orleans thereafter. A year ago, my son graduated from Wiley College in Marshall, Texas, became a father and married his college sweetheart, Kalelia. He now resides in the state of Texas.
On the eve of Mother’s Day 2016, I am thankful for the gift of healthy, loving and educated children. The journey to now was long, and filled with loads of good times, laughter and tears. I am grateful for my husband Kevin who stood beside me and provided love, support and pushed my children to the next level. I am thankful for my tribe of family, friends and mentors that helped to raise my children.
While I know a mother’s work is never done, I accept this awesome gift. I praise God for new beginnings and new focus.
While I’m visiting New Orleans next week for my baby’s graduation (yes, I said baby because she’ll always be my baby!), this empty nester will take flight!
Follow me on Instagram @stylishparadox and watch for the hashtags #emptynestertakesflight and #bloggerover40meetsthebigeasy as Maya Lott (IG name:@1hoodnerd) and I take on the Louisiana streets representing style for the refined woman.
Until next time, love and light!
Julie
