Black, Beige and Colorblocked.

Hello beauties!

Y’all know I Iove an amazing wrap dress!  And why not add another one to my closet as we transition into colder weather?

I think this dress from eShakti is perfect for autumn. It’s actually a very unique piece with beige and black color blocking, pockets and silver circular embellishments that make it stand out from the rest.

And I can’t express enough that this make of dress is flattering for all body types.  And curvy girls, if you don’t believe in the power of this dress, the mother of all wrap dresses (as I call her), Diane Von Furstenberg quoted, “I would say the wrap dress is better when you are a bit curvier.”

Until next time, love and light!

Julie

The Perfect Combination

As a person who loves style and fashion, sometimes it amazes me how easily I can pull outfits together with little to no effort.  I’m usually not one to toot my own horn, but at this age I’ve earned the right to mention my God given gifts, but always with a humble spirit.  I think I pulled together the perfect combination for this post.

During a recent girls’ day out with my friend Kimberly, I stumbled upon this wrap dress from the Who What Wear Collection in Target.  I’m pretty sure it was the last one in the store, and rumor has it – –  the dress is now sold out (in XS – XL)!  Not only is it pretty with pinstripes, but it has ruffles and is a curvy girls dream!

I paired the dress with a pair of cobalt blue sandals from Shoeland, and The Cobalt Blue Saffiano Leather ‘Mini Christy’ Tote from MelBoteri.  If you want a MelBoteri beauty like this one, use code “StylishParadox” for a 15% discount code at checkout.

As we move into the beginning of a new week, let’s not forget to send up prayers for our fellow men, women and children affected by the hurricanes in Texas and Florida!  Pay it forward and donate to your charity of choice for relief efforts.  Clean out that closet and pantry to help those in need!

Until next time, love and light!

Set the Standard with Style

Hey there lovelies!

I hope everyone had a wonderful labor day holiday and are ready for the week ahead!  Are you ready to set the standard with style?  I had to say that, because it sounds good.  Which leads right into my reason for this post.

I think all of us want to wear well made clothing.  I grew up in household with plus size women and as I recall, in times of the past there wasn’t much of a variety of clothing for plus size ladies to choose from.  But as style transitioned and evolved, there are many choices now for the “curvy woman”.

Universal Standard is a brand that caters to women sized 10-28.  They manufacture outstanding garments.  I can tell you firsthand, because I have some amazing pieces from their brand.

Universal Standard was created to set the standard, by not comprising on choices and style for their customers.  They use fabrics such Peruvian cotton and French satin back crepe. And get this…  If you go up or down a size, they will replace your clothing… FOR FREE!

They are hitting the road for a 12 city tour in the United States, with in store pop-up shops at Nordstrom, while doing a model search for their next campaign.  Los Angeles dates are October 5th – 6th at the Century City store.  Stop by!  I’ll be there too.

Until next time, love and light!

Julie

Blogger Babes Collaboration: The Little White Dress (LWD)

Hey there lovelies!

I know you all have heard of the Little Black Dress (LBD), but what about the Little White Dress (LWD)?  Well, I’ve partnered up with some of my very stylish blogger babes to share our take on styling the LWD.

When it was decided we’d style the LWD, my thought was nooooo!  I’m sure you’ve heard that wearing white makes you look bigger, and black clothing is slimming. And believe it or not, there was a time when I wore black almost everyday! But, I quickly came to the realization that I can’t preach body confidence if I’m afraid, right?! So, off I went to find a white dress to compliment my curves.

My first try was an online order.  When I tried it on, it hugged me in all the wrong places.  On my second try, I picked up two dresses just to be safe.  Both were winners!

Please take a look at how my blogger sisters styled their little white dresses, by clicking the links below:

For the Love of Graphic Tees: Customized Girl

Hello Stylistas!

I recently partnered with Customized Girl, an apparel company that offers personalized fashions, including graphic t-shirts!  What a great avenue to advertise your brand as an influencer.

Many times when I’ve ordered t-shirts online, either the material was too thin or the graphics left something to be desired!  Customized Girl was spot on with a solid cotton blend (check) and fantastic looking graphics (check)!  When you go online to pick your customized item, they have numerous graphics, fonts and types of apparel to choose from.

Would I recommend Customized Girl to my friends and blogger babes?  The answer is, heck yes!

Until next time, love and light!

Dresses: The Best Staple for the Woman on the Go

Dresses are really the best clothing staple for hot weather. Heck, they are the best staple all year round!

Have you ever heard the saying, “I wear dresses because I’m too lazy to put on pants!” Easy, breezy and me, in a nutshell! Who else has this issue?

But seriously, as woman on the go, I need to dress quickly and look put together at the same time.

This summer, I was excited to partner up with @shopmaxwell and find this adorable dress that speaks volumes with its colors and floral patterns. Not only can this dress transition into the fall because of her solid cotton fabric, but can be worn over and over.

Dress it up with conservative or chunky accessories, boots or sandals, dressed up or down. The pale green background and floral goodness that surrounds the forefront, are pleasing to the eye.

Just know that I’ve been working really hard on a variety of projects, including my day job. I’ve kinda slacked off posting here, but my goal is to be more consistent. Beginning now.

Love you guys!

Until next time,

Julie

Confidence of Style for the Woman over 40

Hey there, lovelies!

In more recent years and from those closest to me, I’ve been told that I need to grow up, not because I am immature or irresponsible, but because of my wardrobe choices. For the most part, I’ve just shrugged their comments off as disapproval or discomfort with my youthful spirit and confidence of style.

“Should we care what others think at this stage of our lives? Often times, the woman who is confident in her personal style abides by the notion that age-appropriate dressing means nothing for them; it’s all about dressing for your body type.  Our generation is redefining the concept of aging, just as we’ve redefined so many other things. Style after 40 is not about being in competition with your daughter or looking like the girl you were 20 years ago; it’s about dressing like the woman you are now. What matters most is that you feel as comfortable in your clothes as you do in your skin.

I own a number of pencil skirts that are form fitting. The difference now compared to 20 years ago is that today I will pair my form fitting skirt with a tunic instead of that crop top I wore in 1997.  I dress in 2017 to flatter my body now. Once you’ve looked at your body honestly and figured out what works best now and what no longer is flattering, you’ll feel more confident in what you choose to wear.  Hey, you might still be able to rock that crop!

Know that the foundation of style is an understanding of not only who you are but also the kind of woman you want to project.

As a stylist, my objective is to revitalize wardrobes and to move a client’s style out of the past and into the present, without trying to make them look younger.

With garments that fit appropriately and styles that exude your personality, you will have a youthful aura and confidence about you. You will project an image of being capable to be compete with the younger, and in so many words, less experienced woman.

Stay empowered, inspired and remember, age ain’t nothin’ but a number!

Click on the “Styling Services” tab to find out how I can be of service to you. I want to help you project the best version of yourself to the world.

Until next time, love and light!

Pic & Pay: Spreading Kindness Globally Along with Shoes

Hey there, Stylistas!

I can remember as a child, my mother would always make sure that my sister Donna and I had the best shoes.  Our trips to this well known children’s shoe store often times ended with her saying, “Do you want to wear your new shoes out of the store?”  My answer was always an emphatic, YES!  So, along with my love for style and fashion, shoes are right up there at the top of the list!

I recently partnered with Pic & Pay, a women’s footwear brand which offers classic styles that are cut for the modern woman. Their shoes are affordable yet offer a fashionable touch for a number of occasions, including your office work days, nights out on the town or fun days spent with friends and family!

I fell in love with the Cayden, which is a crossover, metallic sling back sandal.  The bottom of the shoe has a white, rubber bottom and is super dooper comfortable.

For this post, I paired the sandals with an African printed wrap skirt and off the shoulder blouse.  It was blazing hot in Los Angeles on this particular day, and I needed to have on sandals!  Cayden came through!  And after my Saturday shopping, I returned home with feet that didn’t feel like I was walking for 3 hours!

One more important thing about the company, Pic & Pay.  When you purchase a pair of their shoes, a percentage will go towards spreading kindness globally.  They have established a network of “Forwarders”, who are ambassadors that are encouraged to spread random acts of kindness. When you do a good deed for someone, tell them to go pay it forward and watch the ripple effect that a simple act can create.

They also have a partnership with Soles4Souls, a non-profit social enterprise that creates jobs and provides relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the globe. This non-profit has distributed more than 30 million pairs of new and used shoes in 127 countries.  And Pic & Pay has donated over 13,000 pairs of shoes to those who need them the most.

Shoes for causes?!  I think I’m on to something here.  And it feels good!

Until next time, love and light.

Aventura Clothing: Garments That Give to Those in Need

Hey there!

We’re in the throes of summer and I pray that everyone is taking advantage of the sunny skies.  I hope you have them in your neck of the woods!

I wanted to take a minute to show you the cutest little shirt I received from a company called Aventura Clothing.  When I put it on, it gives me the vibe of a feminine lumberjack. Is there such a thing as a female, girlie girl lumberjack? Lol!

My Sheridan top is a basic button down in the front, but in the back, she shows out!  The sleeve length is adjustable and the fabric is very soft to the touch.  See picture below.

Here are quick facts about Aventura Clothing.  They are a family run business located in the Sierra Nevada that engages in sustainable practices.  And get this, their garments are made of soft eco-friendly organic cotton! In addition, they are all about giving back to communities in need! They have partnered with Uncommon Threads, an organization who provides garments for domestic violence survivors returning to the workforce and Ecōths, a philanthropic program they launched in 2014 with the focus of fighting hunger in America. Each time you buy an Aventura garment, at least 3 meals will be provided to someone who is hungry.

Now, how about wearing clothing that is making someone else’s life a little easier. BRAVO, Aventura!

Until next time, love and light!

Julie
